International Youth Day – Zambia AYP activities
On the 12th August Zambia Launched the Revised National Youth Policy and the First ever National Action Plan on Youth Empowerment and Employment which has a target of creating 500,000 Jobs for Youths by end of 2016.
Jack Chongola a Steering Committee member of AYP representing Southern Africa gave a speech during the launch he highlighted some of the challenges Young people are faced with in the country due to the absence of Job. He also requested the President through his office to ensure that the documents launched would be actionalized and youth issues mainstreamed in all Government ministries and Departments.
A number of Radio and TV interviews were conducted to promote the contents of the National Youth Policy and the Action Plan on Youth Empowerment and Employment.
A meeting was also organized in partnership with various organizations that included Restless development, JCI and National Youth Development Council. The meeting discussed various Youth development issues and findings from the My world Survey that was conducted by Alliance of Youth Entrepreneurs with support from Africa Youth Panel. A suggestion on forming a action team on the SDGs was made submissions would be made later on to map the way forward.Posted on: August 22, 2015, by : Jack Chongola
